Yes syncing audio is about as fun as a root canal.
Every camcorder for me must have a external mic and a firewire port.
USB is okay for standard def but struggles with HD.

No these mics are horrible! Go Sennheiser or a Good Sony wireless. Check ebay good used deals.

Great video, it really helped me out!

I’m wondering, would the same procedure work to connect a wireless mic to a field recorder, like a Zoom H4 or Edirol R-09? They have mic inputs, and I’d like to have a wireless mic connected so I can interview people as someone else works the camcorder. Also, do you know of a lavaliere mic that would work for this, it would be less conspicuous than a handheld mic (the interviewees always know they’re on, so I’m not hiding it from them). Thanks.

@VitalityMassage Be sure to use only alkaline batteries. Static will be caused by non alkaline batteries or weak batteries.
That said, it is a very low cost wireless microphone. If you want better, get a Sennheiser G3 wireless system. Runs about $600, but works great.

I took your advice and have found that this mic has a lot of static and poor range. The internal mic on my canon actually is far clearer than the azden wms pro mic. The range is not 250 ft as stated on the box. It is between 40 and 60 ft and the static gets worse as you get farther away. It’s going back to Amazon today.
I would not recommend this mic to anyone. I do love my canon zr 960 and plan on buying a better quality mic (yes, I’ll probably spend $300-$500).

@fyfaen1000 Only if the Canon 550D has the optional external microphone port.

@ConnersTutorials You could use a clapperboard so you can sync your audio and video more easily in post.

@ConnersTutorials I guess that could work. But it will be a lot of trouble syncing the audio in your video editing program. Be easier to just get a camera with an external microphone port. IE Kodak Zi8 from Amazon for $117

My camera does not have a mic input jack, so, can i still use this wireless mic if i connect it to a digital voice recorder and sync the audio in editing?

kodak zi-8 has an external mic input. Bought this one since the flip doesn’t have the mic input.

@coolseeya Flip cameras don’t have external microphone ports, so no external microphone will work with a flip camera.

Will this work on flip cameras?

@StephenPerkinsBlog No – the Sony Handycam DCR- SR42 does not have an external microphone port, so no external microphone will work with that camcorder.
