The Motorola Droid is live, and it’s bringing the hurt to the Android space. Verizon’s first Android phone sports a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, GPS, WiFi, 3G data, microSD card and Android OS 2.0. Thanks Google! Fu ck rotten apple and their navi. apps in the apps store. Once you bought you’re Fu cked. Yup I paid $90 for navigon navigation app and this POS doesn’t work! No GPS signal ! People read the bad reviews!

what happens on normal gps is that the map data is stored on the device.
The only information pulled from the satellite is your location, nothing more about things around you.
You can store maps inside your device and navigate with them, it’s a little difficult but there are some apps that let you do that.

it acts as a real gps to locate you, but it uses 3g to bring maps////Copilot live is in the market wich stores maps on the sd card, my favorite is Navigon, yet to come to the market…it works like magic on my iphone..

does the google navigation work when there is not 3g or internet connection..i mean does it work like a normal gps..pulling info straight from the satellite.

well, I think they might be losing money on the system but if you count in all the games and rest of the crap they have for in the market..you get where I’m getting it? they don’t exactly lose financially…

i just bought this phone but does anyone know how this app works if your in a area that you get no service i mean if it uses google map you have to have internet conection which u wont have if you dont have reception

not sure if you ever got an answer but if you want to turn of google maps there should be an app from the market place which does it. Hope that helps.

I bought a moto droid and by far the best phone I have ever owned hands down. If you buy this phone get an app called trapster. It uses navigation to tell you where cops are. I use it all the time on longer road trips. And yes trapster and the google maps/navigation are free. google maps comes already installed.
