No Contract Cell Phone

What is better than no contract cell phone provider?
I am moving back to the states and did not really want to get caught in a contract. I've looked up and like what I see, but not in the GSM network and is on the iDEN. I looked at my phone simple and have good reviews and then are ill, but they are fairly new. I also saw H20 Wireless. Does anyone have any opinions? Then there are, of course, T-Mobile and Verizon without a contract, but are more expensive than the others for less. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I have Virgin Mobile, and I have a Rumor2, you can get new for $ 100. I have to pay $ 20 a month for unlimited text messaging and mobile email, and an additional $ 20 per month for 200 minutes.
