How do I get my motorola phone to recognize my new memory card?

My memory card formatted in FAT (32). It is a 4GB SanDisk. I have only mp3 songs in it and does not work on my phone. However, work on my samsung friends. I have an unlocked Motorola V1100. I have no software or the phone line to connect to my computer. What should I do? I’m not very smart technology, so go easy on the jargon!
